Parvo Canine Health Campaign

TheGarwValley.org was able to launch this Canine Health Campaign due to the generosity of our Patreons.

At the end of this campaign we distributed over 10,000 free dog waste bags. Patreon Neil Walters was a massive help making at least half of the sachets for this project.

Canine Parvo virus is a highly contagious disease that can be fatal to dogs. Your dog can catch Parvo by sniffing another dog’s poo. Puppies aged six weeks to six months are most at risk.

The general symptoms of Parvo virus are lethargy, severe vomiting, loss of appetite, and bloody and foul-smelling poo.

There is no cure, but vaccinating a dog or puppy against Parvo will protect them.

Dogs with Parvo will usually undergo treatment which consists of intensive care in a veterinary hospital where they will receive antibiotics, drugs to control the vomiting, intravenous fluids and other supportive therapies.

The average hospital stay is about 5-7 days.

Please note that treatment is not always successful.

Protect your dog from Parvo by vaccinating them from between £30 and £70. Puppies can be vaccinated against the Parvo virus from the age of six weeks. Dogs need a yearly booster vaccination.

Reduce the risk of the Parvo virus being spread in your community by using and encouraging other dog owners to use dog waste disposal bags. 

This campaign was launched because the Community Council refused to supply free dog waste bags in the park and lake area.
